Positive Safety Solutions was founded by three Health and Safety and construction professionals with over six decades (combined – we’re not that old yet!), of industry experience who wanted to provide the clear instruction, and unrivalled support needed to get learners qualified in their chosen NVQ, and on the road to an exciting career.

The people in our team are our strength, with experience gained in a broad array of industry sectors from the Armed Forces, education and manufacturing, to pharmaceuticals and oil & gas; we are Health and Safety specialists in Construction Safety, Fire Safety and CDM Consultancy.

Sam is a Health and Safety Professional with a wide range of knowledge in Health and Safety Management particularly within the construction, demolition, heavy industrial, facilities, security and project management fields.
Sam has a wealth of experience in project management, from the initial planning phase through to the action phases, and handover stages. Sam’s key skills include assessing potential hazards, providing positive solutions and implementation of controls.
Sam has a wide-ranging background in Construction Health and Safety Management, Risk Management and the CDM 2015 Regulations and has worked on a range of commercial projects as Principal Designer, CDM Advisor, and Site Safety Manager for some of the biggest names in the UK including Rockwool, 3MUK, Ministry of Justice and Nationwide Building Society, to name but a few.
Sam has an expansive knowledge of general, manufacturing, and construction Health and Safety legislation from a legal point of view, as well as the practical application of ensuring compliance.
Sam is a Certified Member of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (CertIOSH) and a Member of the International Institute of Risk & Safety Management (MIIRSM).
After achieving a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering, Kathryn ventured forth on her career in the steel industry as a project engineer and later became a maintenance engineer, which is where her interest in health and safety began.
Kathryn has spent 24 years in higher education lecturing in engineering and health and safety at undergraduate and postgraduate levels as well as undertaking senior manager roles.
She has been the lead tutor for the NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety for 15 years and delivers IOSH Managing Safely.
Kathryn has extensive experience in training and working with industry and has undertaken consultancy in Health and Safety for many different companies and delivered bespoke safety training to many different sectors in both the UK and overseas.
Kathryn is a Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (FIMechE) and a Chartered Member of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (CMIOSH).
